Martina Macpherson (United Kingdom)

Title
The Benefits of Integrated Reporting for Analysts
Description
“People are our greatest asset”: this can often be read in corporate literature but with little information to support the statement. Can integrated reporting help improve both ESG and financial research? Can it contribute to the wider acceptance of ESG analysis by mainstream investors? How could it be done in practice?
These are the questions that I propose to address in this session, from the standpoint of an ESG research agency.
Speaker 2

Daniela Carosio (Italy)
Senior ESG Reseacher - ECPI Group

Title
Assessing Integrated Reporting as a Driver of Value
Description
Integrated reporting is an emerging management practice that is yet to be well-defined. Therefore efforts to develop a framework for integrated reporting, such as the initiative of the International Integrated Reporting Committee (IIRC) are welcome as a useful guidance for companies and their stakeholders.
Based on its experience in the market as an ESG rating agency and index provider, its track record of over 5 years of ESG data and its cooperation with academics in Europe and the US, ECPI will present some initiatives to assess and understand the materiality of ESG integration and the value of integrated reporting.
Speaker 3

Steve Waygood (United Kingdom)
Head of Sustainability Research and Engagement - Aviva Investors Global Services Limited

Title
Towards a Convention on Corporate Sustainability Reporting at Rio+20
Description
Aviva has convened a Corporate Sustainability Reporting Coalition of more than 40 like-minded organizations, including institutional investors managing approximately $2 trillion. This coalition calls on United Nations member-states to adopt at the 2012 Earth Summit a binding international commitment to develop national regulations which mandate the integration of material sustainability issues in the Annual Report & Accounts; and which provides effective mechanisms for investors to hold companies to account on the quality of their disclosures, including for instance through an advisory vote at the AGM.
