Since 2007 Gemma Crijns is a self-employed researcher and adviser on sustainability and development cooperation. Until 1 October 2008 she also was the coordinator of the Dutch CSR Platform (an alliance of 32 NGOs and trade unions)
Gemma Crijns has been Managing Director of the EIBE/Institute for Responsible Business at Nyenrode Business Universiteit from May 2001 until 1 October 2006.

Prior to her position at Nyenrode, she was a staff member of the Dutch section of Amnesty International for twenty years in various capacities, including External Relations Coordinator and Economic Relations Coordinator. At Amnesty International she developed a Business and Human Rights program and established intensive counseling and stakeholder relations with Dutch multinational enterprises.

She has a broad experience in working with Dutch and international business, governmental, and non-governmental organizations on topics related to Human Rights, Corporate Social Responsibility and International Development Cooperation
Gemma Crijns’ research and consulting focuses on social issues in CSR (human rights, worker’s rights), development of stakeholder relations and partnerships, sustainable development and corporate social reporting.

Gemma was educated as a medical doctor and worked for 10 years as a medical professional.
