Over the past 25 years, Tom Cummings has designed and implemented strategy, change and co-operation assignments for a broad range of international companies and institutions. Prior to founding Executive Learning Partnership (www.elpnetwork.com), Tom has held roles both in-company and as an external consultant thereby providing him with unique insight into the leadership and strategy issues facing large organisations. He is an expert in the design and delivery of global, top class executive development programmes as well as in the facilitation of management board retreats. A BA from the University of Puget Sound, in his home region of Seattle, Washington, and an MPhil. from Imperial College at the University of London, Tom was an academic at IMD International in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he co-directed the workshop on Business Alliances. While at IMD, he wrote two EFMD award winning case studies on international strategic management and authored several articles and book chapters on strategy, innovation and change through collaboration. He continues to advise Boards about Industry Structure and Strategic Alliances. In the recent past, he was Executive Vice-President and Managing Director of the Leadership Development Programme at ABN AMRO Bank and Head of Learning & Organisation at the Global Centre for Expertise of Unilever. Typical examples of his work include: - The development and design of a Senior Management Programme on change, leadership and co-operation for a large international bank. He directed 24 programmes over four years. - The structuring and facilitation of the annual Strategy Board Retreat and the process cascade over 5 years within a worldwide food service company. - The development of a 360-degree competence feedback instrument for top executives, designed coaching frameworks and established screening processes. Tom holds Board positions at the Society for Organisation Learning Council in Boston and at Progressio Foundation and Common Purpose in The Netherlands. He has been visiting faculty member at leading European business schools including INSEAD (Fontainebleau, France), TSM Business School and Nyenrode Business School in The Netherlands. He also speaks regularly at conferences and workshops on executive development. Tom is co-author of Leadership Landscapes, a book to be published in Fall 2007, in which he looks at large-scale organizations and networks, and considers applied leadership theory appropriate to the 21st century.Tom is a North American living in the Netherlands with his partner, Emilie and their American, Swiss and Dutch born children.
