Residing mostly in East Asia since 1986, James Hawrylak has extensive experience in investment banking, investor relations, and corporate governance in Japan, Greater China, and Korea gained while working for online broker DLJdirect, wholesale broker Mizuho Securities, IR consultancy Taylor Rafferty, and proxy advisory Glass Lewis. In 2010, James became Thomson Reuters' Director of Corporate Services for Japan, where he is currently responsible for Investor Relations, Public Relations, Corporate Treasury, Business & Competitive Intelligence, Multimedia, and Corporate Responsibility products and services. James began studying East Asian cultures and languages in 1983 as an undergraduate and has since completed an MA in East Asian Languages and Literatures and an MBA. He teaches corporate governance at International University of Japan’s MBA program, regularly presents at industry conferences throughout Asia, and speaks fluent Japanese and conversational Mandarin.
