Emerging Market SRI: the New Frontier

Emerging markets are the theatre in which the big sustainability issues are playing out.
Strong economic growth is forcing a dramatic transformation of economies, society and the environment. The complex interlinkage of Environmental, Social and Governance issues is a powerful cocktail of sustainability challenges, as well as opportunities. SRI investors have however tended to regard emerging markets as out of scope, given limited data provider coverage and developed market benchmarks. In the new economic order, emerging markets have moved to centre stage and SRI investors have a big opportunity to demonstrate that a sustainability perspective - far from being a developed market luxury – can bring real investment value added.
