Yukiko Fukasaku is the founder and Managing Director of INNOVMOND s.a.r.l., an independent research and consulting company, based in France, undertaking work in governance of research, innovation and higher education including innovation for sustainable development as well as studies on the impacts of emerging technologies such as nanotechnology. Through work for clients and with partners, INNOVMOND aims to make research and innovation contribute more to making the world socially, environmentally and economically more sustainable. As its Managing Director, Yukiko believes that science and technology are a double-edged sword that can bring both benefits and hazards to mankind. Societies need to mobilise human wisdom and actions to maximise the beneficial edge while minimising the hazardous. She aspires that INNOVMOND will grow to become a positive force in this. Yukiko has pursued a career that has prepared her well for such a venture.  In the years leading up to the founding of INNOVMOND, she was a senior policy analyst in the Directorate for Science, Technology and Industry of the OECD working on questions of research and innovation policy. Before that she accumulated experience with other international organisations, national government agencies and research institutes including UNESCO, ILO, JETRO, NEDO, Centre de Sociologie de l’Innovation of the École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris and Mitsubishi-Kasei Institute of Life Sciences as staff or independent researcher. Such international experience has enabled her to create a company in France while maintaining her Japanese nationality, and to undertake work for an international clientele.Yukiko has published in the area of research and innovation policy, environment, energy, sustainable development and corporate social responsibility. She has studied chemistry and biology before turning to history and social studies of science and international relations.  She holds a Ph.D. in science and technology policy studies.Yukiko and her family (husband and three sons) as well as INNOVMOND s.a.r.l. are based in Saint-Cloud in the suburbs of Paris France.
