Mr. Porter, an Australian national, presently serves as Country Director for Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand and administers these country programs from the World Bank’s office in Bangkok. Previously, Mr. Porter served as Acting Director, Strategy and Operations in the East Asia and Pacific Region and was a director in the Bank’s Strategy and Resource Management Group, where he worked on institutional strategy and finance issues. Mr. Porter also served for four years as head of the Policy Support Unit of the World Bank’s Corporate Secretariat, working closely with representatives of the 181 nations who comprise the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors. Prior to that, Mr. Porter worked on World Bank operations in Africa and Asia. Mr. Porter joined the World Bank as an Economist in 1976 through the Young Professionals Program
