S. Dev Appanah is a Principal at TRN Institute in Bangkok, Thailand. Dev brings extensive functional experience in social innovation and social venture capital. Under this position he co-founded and still manages the regional fund - Youth Social Enterprise Initiative (YSEI). By working collaboratively with various partners in the region and the Swiss Government (SDC), YSEI finances and supports 7 early stage social enterprises from developing countries in the South and East Asia-region.  In addition to YSEI, Dev also supports 8 early-stage social enterprises within Thailand. The enterprises Dev works with range widely from a microcredit program for entrepreneurs in the Philippines to a nonprofit web design firm in Thailand. Over the course of his work, Dev has written several publications and has spoken at various conferences on social entrepreneurship and sustainable business. His most recent book - Startup and Change the World, is a guide for young and emerging social entrepreneurs.
