Business Week reports that investment in biofuels is up from US$ 0.5 Billion in 2005 to US$ 10 Billion in 2006, with US$ 1 Billion going to biodiesel producers. Biodiesel is particularly attractive over corn-based ethanol fuel as the price of corn is rising, concerns of emissions loom over ethanol use and biodiesel is easier to pipe than ethanol fuel. Are biofuels a real short-term alternative to fossil fuels?
Will the impact of biofuels growth have a negative impact on the supply of food?
