Education:Mr. AHMAD holds a Ph.D. degree in Natural Resources and EnvironmentalEconomics from Michigan State University (1997), a Master of Art degreein International Trade and Finance from Economics Department, ColumbiaUniversity, New York (1990), and a BA in Economics and DevelopmentStudies from Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia (1985).Work Experience:Since 1984, Dr. Ahmad has been working as macroeconomic analyst andnatural resources/environmental economist in a number of domestic andinternational organizations, including the World Bank (in Jakarta andWashington DC) and a prominent Indonesian independent policy researchinstitute. He has been working with NGO communities on various naturalresources and environmental issues since 1991.In April 2001, Dr. Ahmad resumed his position as Senior NaturalResource Economist at Natural Resources Management Program, a USAIDfunded program, after being seconded for 2.5 years to serve asExecutive Director of LEI (Lembaga Ekolabel Indonesia/IndonesianEcolabeling Institute) in Jakarta.In November 2002, Dr. Ahmad joined WWF Indonesia to take the helm ofthe organization as Executive Director, started February 2003.Other Domestic and International ActivitiesDr. Ahmad actively contributes to and supports the working of an NGOcoalition to promote agrarian and natural resources governance reformin Indonesia. He also serves as a member of theInternational Steering Committee for Continuing Dialog on SustainableForestry (The Forestry Dialogue/TFD) under the auspices of the WorldBusiness Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), as well as amember of the International Editorial Board of Journal of Forest Policyand Economics, published by Elsevier Science, Netherlands. Dr. Ahmadsteaches Natural Resources and Environmental Economics at the Faculty ofEconomics, University of Indonesia.
