Mr. Zaffar Khan has had the opportunity to serve on a number of diverseBoards some of which he has also Chaired. These include, aside fromEngro Chemical, Engro Vopak, Engro Asahi, United Bank, PTML(Ufone), SuiSouthern Gas, PTCL, Pakistan Steel, Unilever Pakistan, Pakistan Centrefor Philanthropy, Aga Khan-Education Board and more recently theKarachi Stock Exchange. Mr. Zaffar Khan, was elected President of the OverseasChamber of Commerce & Industry and has served on several advisorycommittees of the Government of Pakistan notably the Economic AdvisoryBoard, Pays & Pensions Committee and the Committee thatrecommended NEQS and implementation of the national environmentalpolicy. The President of Pakistan recently conferred on him the Sitara e Imtiaz. Mr. Zaffar A Khan graduated as a mechanical engineer from PeshawarUniversity in 1967 and soon thereafter joined Esso Pakistan FertilizerCompany which later become Exxon Chemical and following an employee ledbuyout became Engro Chemical. Mr. Khan retired from the company in 2004after serving for 35 years, the last 6 of which were as the Presidentand CEO of the Company. During the early years of his career he servedExxon for 10 years in Hong Kong, USA and Singapore in thepetrochemicals business. Mr. Khan has done an Advanced ManagementProgram from the University of Hawaii and has attended short courses atINSEAD and the Harvard Business School.
