Mark Weintraub is head of Sustainable DevelopmentStrategy, Policy and Reporting for the Royal Dutch/Shell Group ofCompanies. He is editor of the Shell Report, and with his London- andHague-based team is responsible for advising the Chief Executive onsustainable development policy and internal implementation,representing Shell externally on SD and Corporate Social Responsibilitymatters and helping the Businesses to integrate environmental andsocial considerations into their decision-making and operations.Mark was previously part of the Shell Groups climate change team wherehe worked with the Athabasca Oil Sands project to develop itsgreenhouse gas management plan. He also helped introduce the use ofcarbon costs in valuing new investment projects in Shell. Mark joined the Shell Group in 1997 from McKinsey and Company, themanagement consultancy, where he was engagement manager in theenvironment and energy practices and lead projects to developenvironmental strategies for major energy and chemicals companies thatdelivered not just reputation benefits but real business value. Mark is Canadian. He has a doctorate from Balliol College, Oxford andlives in Amsterdam with his wife and two daughters.
