Walter Kahlenborn is co-founder and Executive Director of theGermanSustainable Investment Forum, an association promoting sustainableasset management active in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, andLuxembourg. He is also co-founder and Director of Adelphi Research andAdelphi Consult.Walter Kahlenborn is an acknowledged expert on environmental policyconsultancy, particularly in the area of "sustainable finance". Hisknowledge stems from numerous research and consultancy projects whichhe has carried out for various public and private organisations overthe past few years. The following are a selection of the projectsundertaken:An evaluation of UNEP FI and its German signatories;An international comparative study on disclosure regulations forpensions funds;Development of a brochure entitled "Mehr Wert: ÖkologischeGeldanlagen" (More Value: Ecological Investments) for the GermanMinistry of the Environment, about 100.000 copies of which have sincebeen distributed to private consumers in Germany.An adaptation of this brochure for the Austrian market commissioned bythe Austrian Ministry of the Environment.A basis study for the European Commission on the role of privateservice providers in the European Union with reference to sustainabledevelopment.A study for the Federal Environmental Agency on the provable benefitsof green investments for the environment.A study on eco-funds for the Deutsche Telekom.Further investigations and reports i.a. on the subject of eco-auditingfor financial service providers, eco-labelling of eco-funds, eco-ratingand financial rating, etc.Before founding Adelphi Research, Walter Kahlenborn worked for theconsultancy Ecologic and the Science Centre Berlin. He has a diploma inEconomic Engineering from the Technical University Berlin and an MA inhistory and philosophy from the Free University Berlin. He is theauthor of numerous books, and a member of the advisory councils forseveral research projects.Through his position as Executive Director of the German SustainableInvestment Forum, Walter Kahlenborn is also Vice-President of theEuropean Forum for Responsible and Sustainable Investment (EUROSIF).
