Michael T. Eckhart, President of Solar International Management Inc. and sponsor of the Solar Bank Program, has over 25 years of experience in renewable energy, high technology, and power generation, and is widely recognized for his recent work in the development of financing strategies for solar energy in the U.S., Europe, Japan, India, and Africa. Mr. Eckhart also is President of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), and a member of the Chairmen's Committee of the World Council for Renewable Energy (WCRE). ACORE, a national nonprofit group with over 160 organizational members, is dedicated to bringing renewable energy into the mainstream of America. It created and produces the Power-Gen Renewable Energy (PGRE) conference and exhibition in Las Vegas; the Renewable Energy Finance Forum - Wall Street (REFF-WS) in New York City; and the Renewable Energy in America (REIA) policy conference in Washington, DC which focused this year on establishing "Phase II" as the new theme of national policy in renewable energy. Prior to SIM, Mr. Eckhart held management positions as the CEO of United Power Systems, Inc., Vice President of Arete Ventures, Inc.,Manager of strategic planning for GE's Power Systems Sector, and Principal in the energy practice of Booz, Allen & Hamilton, Inc. Heserved in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service. Mr. Eckhart received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
