Dr. Robert Montgomery is the Head of the Environmental and Social Unit in the Private Sector Department at the Inter-American Development Bank. Manages, where he manages all departmental activities related to environmental, social, health and safety, and labor aspects. Dr. Montgomery has over 25 years of technical and management experience having performed projects in over 30 countries located throughout Latin and North America, Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. His diverse experience in working for engineering and environmental companies, private manufacturing companies, government and universities has resulted in technical expertise related to environmental, social, health and safety and labor aspects (e.g., environmental assessments and audits, regulatory compliance, contamination investigation and remediation, water resources, waste management, environmental engineering, environmental monitoring, risk management, and statistics). In addition, Dr. Montgomery possesses extensive experience and skills related to business management, including project management, marketing and sales, financial (budgeting, cost estimation), feasibility analysis and market assessments, supervision, and data management systems. Dr. Montgomery obtained his doctorate degree in environmental engineering from Colorado State University and both his masters degree in natural resource management and bachelors degrees in fisheries and wildlife from Michigan State University. He has published numerous articles related to environmental issues, performed various research projects, and developed and conducted numerous training classes and seminars.
