Matt Arnold is Director of Business Development for the Global Environment Fund. Previously, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the World Resources Institute. In this capacity, he was responsible for the organization’s operational effectiveness and financial and programmatic success. Matt was also a principal in WRI’s engagement of business and the capital markets.
In 1990, Matt founded the Management Institute for Environment and Business (MEB) to help business schools and corporations integrate environmental issues into business strategy. In 1996, MEB merged with WRI. Prior to launching MEB, Matt held a marketing position with IBM, a financial associate position with Merrill Lynch Capital Markets, and a business development position with Santa Fe Trading, Hong Kong.
Matt has helped dozens of companies adapt to environmental and social change. He helped DuPont shape its sustainable growth strategy, bp’s green positioning, and most recently Citigroup with its policy and investments in energy and forest related industries.
Matt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychobiology from Harvard College, a Master’s in US Foreign Policy from the Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He sits on the board of Forest Trends and is a principal of Sustainable Finance Ltd.
