Pierre BOLLON, 51, is the chief executive of AFG (Association Française de la Gestion financière), the French investment funds and asset managers trade association. AFG members manage around 2200 Billions euros on behalf of institutional and private investors, both through mandates and through investment (mutual) funds, including SRI funds and regulated hedge and private equity funds, making the French asset management industry one of the world leaders.AFG is very active in the field of corporate governance. It strongly recommends to its members to exercise their voting rights: “bien gérer c’est aussi bien voter”. Set up as soon as 1997, its standing committee dedicated to CG published in 1998 a code (updated in 2001 and 2004 and 2006, it is known as the “Hellebuyck code” from the name of the Chairman of the committee) setting the standards French asset managers expect issuers to follow. AFG also maintains since 1998 a “monitoring program”, which warns its members when a resolution proposed at a General meeting of a company of the SBF 120 index departs from the code. AFG is also a driving force in the rapid development of SRI in France. Its standing committee on SRI, established in October 2001 meets regularly with the main aims of rising awareness on the topic, promoting transparency guidelines and developing academic research. More than 40 AFG members manage more than 120 SRI funds and SRI assets under management growing rapidly, thanks to the now growing demand of institutional investors.Pierre was a member of the Board of governors and treasurer of the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN). He is vice chairman of the French Study Center for Corporate Social Responsibility (ORSE). He is member of the board of the European Funds and Asset Managers Association (EFAMA). In its management committee, he is in charge of the “Management Company” theme area. He is a member of Support Office of International Investment Funds Association (IIFA). He is the secretary general of the European Savings Institute (OEE). Before joining AFG in September 1997, Pierre worked from 1984 to 1989 as a civil servant (in the Prime Minister’s office then in the Treasury) and, from 1990 to 1997, as advisor to the chairman and director of economic and financial affairs of the French Federation of Insurance Companies (FFSA).Pierre graduated from the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA) and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC), the French leading business school. He has a master degree in law (Panthéon-Sorbonne) and graduated from the Centre des Hautes Etudes d’Assurances (CHEA) and the Paris Institute of Political studies.
