Mr. Arnaud Ventura is Vice President of PlaNet Finance Group an international organization dedicated to the development of microfinance.
Mr. Ventura is also founder and CEO of MicroCred, an international holding company which creates and manages a network of banks and non bank financial institutions dedicated to microfinance.
As a young Internet entrepreneur, Arnaud Ventura discussed the idea of an international organisation using Information Technology to develop microfinance back in 1997. In December 1997, Arnaud Ventura met with Jacques Attali who had developed the idea of a virtual bank using Internet to support microenterprise. Both Attali & Ventura worked together to create PlaNet Finance, in Paris, in October 1998. They received initial support from 3 sponsors: Michel David Weill, Benjamin de Rothschild and DEXIA Bank.
In the last 12 years, PlaNet Finance quickly developed to become one of the leading organizations developing microfinance worldwide. With 1200 staff, PlaNet Finance is now active in close to 80 countries with permanent offices in about 35 of them.
From its start as a non profit organization, PlaNet Finance matured in a group that includes an international non profit organization, a foundation and a number of social businesses.
Before co-founding PlaNet Finance, Arnaud worked for BNP Paribas in France and Argentina. Prior to that Arnaud participated in the creation of two leading Internet providers in France and in Thailand (Club-Internet & Internet Thaïland).
