Klaus Tischhauser is Co-Founder and CEO of responsAbility, one of the world’s leading asset managers for social investments. He has 25 years of professional experience in the financial sector, and since 2003 has been instrumental in leading responsAbility to become the internationally recognized investment company it is today.
Prior to founding responsAbility Klaus worked for Credit Suisse and SAM Sustainable Asset Management, where he was involved in building up the company, executing the first IPO of an investment company focusing on SRI, and launching the first sustainability index with Dow Jones Indexes. Parallel to this he founded a consulting company specializing in environmental issues. In 1999 he embarked on a two-year cycling trip from Zurich to Cape Town, giving him extensive first-hand experience of the lives of poor people in more than 20 African countries.
Milestones with responsAbility include the launch of the world’s first retail microfinance fund in 2003, the first listing of an investment certificate promoting press freedom, and winning the G-20 SME Finance Challenge. This award recognizes responsAbility’s fund-of-fund for SME investments as one of the best possible approaches to unlocking financing for small and medium-sized companies in developing economies and emerging markets.
Klaus Tischhauser holds a degree from the University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration Zurich, and a postgraduate degree in ecology.
